Additional Information
The Cup Final is normally held on the first Saturday in December. Anyone who would like to offer to stage the CUP FINAL should contact the ESAA Cross Country Cup Coordinators, via the Contact-Us page.
ESAA offer the following competitions with separate races for Girls and Boys in each age group:
- Juniors (under 14) – over 12 and under 14 years of age (normally school years 7 & 8)
- Intermediates (under 16) – over 14 and under 16 years of age (normally school years 9 & 10)
- Seniors (under 19) – over 16 and under 19 years of age (normally school years 11, 12 & 13 )
Age groups work on actual age as at midnight 31st August at the end of the current school year, not on their current school year group, teachers need to be aware of any pupils who are in the ‘wrong’ year for their actual age.
For the XC Cup competitions held between September and December 2023, the ages are as at midnight 31st August 2024.

Yes. The ESAA benefits from registration with England Athletics which requires school teams to be accompanied at ESAA events by a teacher from that school. The relevant UK Athletics Insurance Documents can be downloaded and viewed here.
